Indonesia’s national digital payment system, the Quick Response Indonesian Standard (QRIS), has gone live in Japan through a tie-up with JPQR Global, a local payment platform.
The move marks a new step in QRIS’s regional expansion. The system is already accepted in Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, where it serves some 57 million users. Agreements are also in place with the UAE and South Korea, signaling broader international ambitions.
